Board your Tundra Buggy® for a deep-immersion journey into the heart of the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. As a Lodge guest, you hold the ultimate advantage: eight full and a half hours on the tundra, an extended window of observation that far exceeds others as you don't have to head back towards town at the end of the day. This is an elite opportunity to witness the majesty of polar bears and subarctic wildlife in a more intimate setting.
Enjoy a variety of lunches throughout your Tundra Buggy Adventure days. Tundra Buggy Lodge guests get a variety of hot lunches that can range from Perogies and salad, lasagna, sandwiches and soups. As you enjoy your lunch on the Tundra Buggy be sure to watch through the window to continue observing polar bears.
Return to the Lodge to unwind in refined comfort. As the afternoon light shifts across the ice, indulge in a selection of hors d'oeuvres and appetizers handcrafted by our culinary team. Even as you relax with a drink in hand, the wildlife viewing continues—polar bears are frequently wandering past the Lodge, providing intimate viewing opportunities exclusive to Lodge guests.
Dinner is an elegant, three-course affair designed to showcase the flavours of the North. Dine against a backdrop of floor-to-ceiling windows, where the vast, darkening tundra serves as your living wallpaper. It is not uncommon for a curious polar bear to wander past the glass, offering a breathtaking dinner companion unlike any in the world.
Deepen your expertise with an exclusive presentation from a Polar Bears International research scientist. This private session offers a rare look into the biology and conservation of this iconic species from experts. While you immerse yourself in the science, keep a casual eye on the horizon—polar bears the subjects of the lecture are often right outside on the tundra.
Ascend to the rooftop observation deck for a moment of profound tundra silence. Beneath one of the world's most pristine night skies, you may be treated to a private showing of the aurora borealis. Scan the moonlit tundra below; polar bears are still active in the cool of the night, their silhouettes moving ghost-like across the tundra.
Retreat to your private berth for a night of cozy seclusion. Before the the tundra lulls you to sleep, peek out your bed window for one final check. In this world, the last image you see before you dream could be a polar bear standing guard just inches from your window.
Begin your day with a traditional buffet-style breakfast at one of Churchill’s local town restaurants. This is a social start to the morning, as you’ll join three to five other tour groups gathering to fuel up before the day’s journey begins.
Board the morning shuttle for a 30-minute transfer from the townsite to the Tundra Buggy Dock. This transit marks the transition from the historic streets of Churchill to the edge of the vast Wildlife Management Area.
Upon arrival at the launch site, board your designated Tundra Buggy. From here, you begin the trek out across the rugged terrain, navigating toward the prime viewing areas where wildlife is most active.
Spend the heart of the day exploring the tundra. Your driver will maneuver the Tundra Buggy through the established trails in search of polar bears, arctic foxes, and subarctic birdlife.
Enjoy a packed lunch on board each Tundra Buggy Adventure day consisting of sandwiches and soup. Enjoy watching polar bears on the tundra.
As the afternoon light begins to fade, the Tundra Buggy commences its slow journey back toward the dock. Take this time for final photos of the horizon as you leave the bears' habitat behind.
Arrive back at the Tundra Buggy Dock to disembark. You will then board the return shuttle for the 30-minute drive back into the town of Churchill.
Return to your accommodations in town. Enjoy a brief window of downtime to refresh or explore the local shops and galleries before the evening meal.
Conclude your day with dinner at a local Churchill eatery, sharing stories of the day’s sightings with fellow travelers before retreating for the evening.
